PA!GO - The Magic Remote for Little Explorers

Client - Panasonic Home Entertainment

Partners - Google ZOO / Birdman / Color / Kirameki

My role - Project Lead

PA!GO is a collaboration project with Panasonic that uses Google technology to develop a fun educational tool for young children.

Young children now know how to use mobile devices before they can even tie their shoes, which can be concerning for parents.  Rather than taking the technology away from children, we wanted to find a way to harness a child’s imagination and curiosity.  With PA!GO, children are encouraged to spend more time outside and learn about the world around them.  The ubiquitous remote-control was turned into something that would allow children to interact with the real world in a new and magical way instead of relying on the digital screen.

The prototype is powered by TPU and it uses computer vision to let children explore the world around them.  By simply pointing PA!GO at anything, children can learn about it.  They can then take it home and sync it with Chromecast to further learn from educational YouTube content.
